Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for the safe, accurate and timely loading, unloading, movement and placement of vehicles within CN's automotive facility. The role supports customer service and operational requirements by performing yard checks, updating inventory, operating ramps, opening and closing railcar doors, installing and removing vehicle securement devices and bridge plates, and following all applicable safety rules, procedures and facility instructions.

The incumbent receives classroom training with Health and Safety covering CN rules, policies, procedures and safety measures applicable to the automotive facility. This is followed by practical on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching during the probationary period.This position is a unionized position. Job Summary
The incumbent is responsible for the safe, accurate and timely loading, unloading, movement and placement of vehicles within CN's automotive facility. The role supports customer service and operational requirements by performing yard checks, updating inventory, operating ramps, opening and closing railcar doors, installing and removing vehicle securement devices and bridge plates, and following all applicable safety rules, procedures and facility instructions.
Main Responsibilities
- Load, unload, drive and place vehicles safely and efficiently within the automotive facility, railcars and designated yard areas
- Perform yard checks, verify vehicle locations and update inventory information accurately using applicable systems and tools
- Operate loading and unloading ramps in accordance with CN safety rules, customer requirements and facility procedures
- Open and close railway car doors and ensure railcars are prepared safely for loading, unloading and movement activities
- Remove, install and verify vehicle blocks, chocks or other securement devices to protect vehicles during rail movement
- Install and remove bridge plates between railway cars to support the safe movement of vehicles across railcar connections
- Inspect work areas, equipment and vehicles for visible safety concerns, damage or exceptions and report issues in accordance with local procedures
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors and operational partners to support safe, timely and customer-focused automotive service delivery
Working Conditions
- The role requires shift work, including weekends, holidays and on-call assignments, in accordance with operational requirements and the applicable collective agreement
- The incumbent works outdoors in a railway automotive facility and must be able to perform duties in varying and extreme weather conditions
- The role involves physical work, including frequent walking over long distances, climbing railcar ladders, crouching inside railcars and lifting weights up to 50 lb
- Due to the safety-sensitive nature of the work, the incumbent must remain alert, follow instructions carefully and maintain safe work practices at all times
- Respirator use is required for certain tasks, with periodic audiometric testing and respirator fit testing conducted as needed

- Valid Class 5 driver's licence

Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Ability to drive vehicles equipped with manual transmission
- Minimum of two years of driving experience
- Clean driving record with no infractions within the last five years; the incumbent must provide a driving record when required
- Ability to follow CN safety rules, local procedures and customer handling requirements in an automotive facility environment
- Good teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills
- Good hand-eye coordination and ability to operate vehicles safely in confined or active work areas
- Ability to use technology, computer applications and inventory tools required for the role
- Ability to assess situations, identify safety concerns and respond appropriately
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment
